As part of the journey towards a low carbon Scotland, the 2020 Lecture Series is designed to bring business, voluntary, academic and public sectors together to share information and encourage cooperation.
Following a highly successful inaugural lecture in January 2013 on ‘The Challenges and Opportunities of Cleantech and New Energy’, the second in the series ‘Climate Change is What the Boxer Trains For but Weather Throws the Punches’ is being held on 11 September 2013 at St Paul’s and St George’s Church, Edinburgh.
The evening will include keynote addresses from Professor Stephen Belcher, Head of the Hadley Centre and Professor James Curran, Chief Executive of SEPA. These will be followed by a boardroom debate chaired by Dave Gorman, Director of Social Responsibility and Sustainability at the University of Edinburgh and will include Alex Hill, Met Office Chief Advisor, Professor Pete Smith, Science Director of Scotland’s Climate Change Centre of Expertise, Professor Sue Christie, Chief Executive of Northern Ireland Environment Link and Paul Wheelhouse MSP, Minister for Environment and Climate Change.
