Can Scotland cope with zero waste?
Planning Aid Scotland is holding a major event next week that poses the fundamental question Can We Cope With Zero Waste?
Sub-titled Planning Our Way to a Zero Waste Future, the full-day conference will explore the key challenges and opportunities ahead for implementing the Scottish Government's Zero Waste Plan and consider how they will affect workplaces and communities.
Key discussions will include: What do we do with our waste? Where do we put it? How do we process it? How will the planning system react to and cope with these challenges? What are the opportunities afforded by the Zero Waste agenda?
The event is targeted at planning and waste professionals, councillors, community groups and other parties interested in what the Zero Waste Plan will mean for their area. Speakers include: Richard Lochhead MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs and Environment; Iain Gulland, Director of Zero Waste Scotland; Professor James Curran, Chief Executive of SEPA; and Petra Biberbach, Chief Executive, Planning Aid Scotland.
The conference website concludes: “How we deal with Scotland's waste is not a question for tomorrow: it's a crucial question for today.”
The event is on Thursday, March 1st at the Apex International Hotel, Grassmarket, Edinburgh, and is sponsored by CASA Planning and Environment.
