Avondale opens £20m recycling and biofuel plant

A new £20 million re-cycling plant will create 70 jobs and process 200,000 tonnes of waste a year when it is fully operational. Avondale Environmental said 60% of the waste it receives will be recycled or compacted into a compost-like dry fuel which can then be turned into energy.

First Minister in Abu Dhabi

Scotland's First Minister Alex Salmond today met with UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon and Premier Wen of China and shared his vision of a global society with a secure energy future. The First Minister took part in a majilis – a public audience held by the ruler Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi – with leaders and heads of state prior to taking his seat beside UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon and Premier Wen for the opening ceremony of the annual World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi.
