74% increase in UK jobs in wind and marine energy

RenewableUK, the trade body for the UK wind and marine renewables sector, today published an update of its 2010 study into employment in the wind, wave and tidal energy sectors. Working for a Green Britain and Northern Ireland reveals that together these important growth industries now directly employ 18,465 people full time. Energy-efficient show home opens at Ravenscraig site

An energy-efficient show home which aims to promote sustainable building has been opened at the Ravenscraig site near Motherwell in North Lanarkshire. The concept three-bedroom family house incorporates recyclable materials and was built using a pod design which allowed partial off-site assembly. Planners and builders will be invited to visit and learn how environmental low-impact homes are affordable.

New wave of grant funding from The Scottish Government welcomed

Government announcement today of grant funding for Edinburgh based wave businesses Pelamis and Aquamarine Power, and the first tidal project in Pentland Firth given go ahead. Switched On Scotland: A Roadmap to Widespread Adoption of Plug-in Vehicles

Transport Scotland, working closely with partners from across the electric vehicle community, has developed Scotland’s Electric Vehicle Roadmap.
