SSN does the sums on Scottish councils’ per capita carbon emissions

Per capita carbon dioxide emissions within the scope of influence of local authorities have fallen between 2005 and 2010 in almost every Scottish council, according to figures calculated by the Sustainable Scotland Network.

Scotland’s per capita emissions figures were missing from the publication of the Department of Energy and Climate Change’s (DECC) UK-wide ‘Official Statistics: Local Authority Carbon Dioxide Emissions’ earlier this month because Scotland’s population data was not available at the time of publication. This population data has now been released and SSN has used it to calculate the per capita carbon dioxide emissions for all Scottish local authorities for 2005 – 2010.
