Adaptation Scotland – a new name to tackle the impacts of climate change
To mark a new phase in our work encouraging people to tackle the impacts resulting from our changing climate, the Scottish Climate Change Impacts Partnership (SCCIP) has today [Tuesday 20 September 2011] changed its name to Adaptation Scotland.

The Scottish Climate Change Act and how SCCS helped influence it
The Scottish Climate Change Act was passed in 2009 and remains the strongest climate change legislation anywhere in the world.
Stop Climate Chaos Scotland is the largest and most powerful civil society coalition in Scotland, made up of organisations ranging from community and faith groups, environment and development organisations and students and trade unions.
Scotland’s greenhouse gas emissions are a small percentage of global emissions, so we cannot tackle this problem alone. In order to encourage other rich countries to commit to similarly ambitious climate laws, we have produced a short film about the Scottish Act which explains our role in influencing it.

Lloyds Banking Group new website for businesses sustainability
Following a successful 2010 training programme involving 150 Commercial bankers, Lloyds Banking Group has launched a NEW website to give customers the chance to evaluate their business’s sustainability needs and tailor a plan to progress them.
The website has:
- an interactive map showing local business and environment managers trained in a programme accredited by the University of Cambridge;
- a full list of the business benefits including LBG’s definition of sustainability and how they see its importance in the future of how businesses are run;
- sustainability tips;
- an online, interactive tool where users can create their own sustainability statement listing goals/objectives and strategy listing targets and time scales.

Commonwealth Saltire Professional Fellowships
The Scottish Government is inviting potential Scottish host organisations to apply for the newly launched 2011 Commonwealth Saltire Professional Fellowships for programmes in the field of climate change.
As part of the bid commitment by the Scottish Government to hold the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, and as a contribution towards continued international knowledge transfer in areas connected to climate change, the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission on behalf of the Scottish Government has instigated a series of awards that will allow key mid-career professions from Commonwealth countries to undertake short term Fellowships with relevant organisations in Scotland.
