People’s Postcode Lottery

Green Innovation

Here at the 2020 Delivery Group, one of our main aims is to seek ways in which Scotland’s business, voluntary and public sectors can work together to help achieve Scotland’s green targets. It’s a big task, but one we’re convinced can be done.

Jo Bucci, 2020 member and Managing Director of People’s Postcode Lottery, explains how her organisation is allowing the public to get involved in targeting climate change on a personal level:

“Here at People’s Postcode Lottery we attest to the idea that what we do on a personal level can make a big difference in the grand scheme of green behaviour. Over the past month we’ve launched several campaigns aimed at allowing the public to do just that- whether it’s improving their homes or pioneering innovation in climate change.

“Many of you will remember WWF’s keen support of the 2020 Delivery Group upon its formation, with the charity wholeheartedly welcoming the creation of the group. As an organisation, WWF Scotland stands at the forefront of environmental and climate change platforms – therefore it is with great pleasure that this week People’s Postcode Lottery can announce that this impressive charity will become our newest charity partner in Scotland.

“With the launch of what is set to be an extremely successful partnership comes the opportunity for one Scottish home to win a £5,000 ‘Eco-Home Makeover’. Courtesy of People’s Postcode Lottery, WWF Scotland and Knauf Insulation, this ‘household climate-saver’ initiative will see one winning home is kitted out with up to £5,000 worth of free energy-saving measures. This could include anything from loft insulation to draught-proofing through to the purchase of energy-saving gadgets and energy systems. All entrants have to do to enter is submit their details online, for free, via: www.winwithwwf.org

“Following a free energy-saving survey, the winning home will be upgraded into one that is warmer, more comfortable, less expensive to run – and a whole lot better for the climate too.

“Lastly, green entrepreneurs across the globe are invited to submit innovative ideas for services and products aimed at reducing CO2 emissions as part of the Postcode Lottery Green Challenge. The winning sustainable product or service will receive €500,000, with two further green ideas receiving €100,000 each. The deadline for this challenge is fast approaching, on July 31st, with further information found at www.greenchallenge.info”
