Investing in Renewables

Scotland is a highly competitive investment location in the global renewables market

Scotland has a unique combination of natural resources, supply chain and coordinated public/private cooperation to support the development of renewables.
There is an industry cluster of companies with an energy and renewables focus who have a reputation for innovation, education, and engineering (including delivering projects in deep waters).
Onshore wind generation is a mature technology. Scotland already attracts international investment because of our wind resource and proven track record of successfully delivering projects.
Marine, both wave and tidal, continues to attract both public and private funding as it progresses through technology development. Scotland hosts a number of the leading companies, as well as test and potential deployment sites.
The private sector and government are working closely together to deliver the infrastructure and investment that will ensure that Scotland is a global base for skills in offshore wind development, testing, installation and maintenance.
The supply chain is established and growing with a number of exciting recent announcements from new inward investors.
The UK Green Investment Bank is being headquartered in Scotland. This recognises Scotland’s position at the centre of UK renewables development and investment.
